Integration of Individual Number Cards and health insurance cards

To all members:

 

Current health insurance cards will be abolished on December 2, 2024. They will not be newly issued or reissued (Note 1) thereafter.

From now on, since verification of insurance eligibility will be done in principle using the Individual Number Card registered for use as a health insurance card (“Myna health insurance card” hereinafter), please present your Myna health insurance card instead of your current health insurance card when visiting medical care institutions and other facilities.

If you have not yet prepared a Myna health insurance card (i.e., you have not yet been issued an Individual Number Card or have not registered one to use as a health insurance card), please do so promptly.

Your current health insurance card will no longer be usable after it expires on December 1, 2025.

(If you lose your eligibility before the expiration date, the card will be invalidated upon the loss of eligibility and need to be returned at that time.)

 

* From December 2, 2024, certificates of eligibility will be issued in place of health insurance cards for newborns and others who have not yet been issued Individual Number Cards and those who have not prepared Myna health insurance cards at the time of expiration of current health insurance cards.

However, a certificate of eligibility is a temporary document with an expiration date that will become unusable after it expires. We recommend you promptly prepare and start using a Myna health insurance card.

 

* You must register your Individual Number with the Health Insurance Association to use a Myna health insurance card at medical care institutions and other facilities or to be issued a temporary certificate of eligibility. The Health Insurance Association is notified of its members’ Individual Numbers by their companies. If you have not yet submitted your Individual Number to your company, please do so as soon as possible.

 

Note 1: Issue of new health insurance cards to new employees and new dependents; issue of replacement health insurance cards to transferred employees and to those becoming Voluntarily and Continuously Insured Persons; and reissue of health insurance cards due to change of name, card loss or damage, etc.
